Taking a holiday with your family is wonderful. A chance to do all the things you can’t normally do together, see interesting sights, have some fun, and generally enjoy yourselves.
With everyone having different ideas on what a holiday should be though, it can sometimes be a little hard to choose what type of holiday to go for. Something many families enjoy that solves this problem is a cruise. There are so many different options in terms of where you can go and what you can see that you can find something to suit most tastes, and on board ship there’s plenty to do too meaning that everyone is well entertained.
Cruises can be ideal for families for other reasons too, there’s no sitting for hours in a train or aeroplane to get where you are going for starters. Your cruise ship is your hotel as well as being your transport, and from the moment you get on board, your holiday can begin even though you may not even have left port yet.
There’s lots to do on board, from fine dining (or if you prefer it dining of a more casual sort), to organised entertainments during the day and evening. There is likely to be a pool that you can swim in, and bars, lounges, and all the other facilities that you’d expect in a 5 star hotel.
Many cruise ships today lay on activities during the day to help keep the kids entertained, and they tailor these activities to suit the various different age groups, so it’s easy to find a cruise that will suit your family. Of course, while the kids are being entertained, mum and dad can have a bit of a break and enjoy some of the other things on board the cruise ship, from relaxing by the poolside to having a massage or even rock climbing or salsa dancing if you pick the right cruise.
Spending time together as a family is important too, and excursions onto land are great opportunities for this. Wherever it is that you choose to cruise, there will be new and interesting things to see. You could enjoy a cruise into the Mediterranean taking a stop at Egypt to admire the ancient pyramids and the sphinx, or cruise amongst the Canary Islands and take a trip to the very edge of a volcano.
It might be that you sail around the coast of South America stopping at Peru to see the sacred valley of Machu Picchu or watching as ships (maybe even your own) pass up the unforgettable Panama Canal.
No matter where you go, a family cruise is something you’ll remember for a long time, and a holiday that everyone, young or old can enjoy together.
